The second drawing I made for this project is based on the farewell kiss between Hayato and Hanayu from the manga series Mixed Vegetables (there is no anime adaption). It is actually a bit sad, because Hayato will be going to France and this is kind of the last moment where they can be together to bid each other farewell before he leaves. That’s why, in the original image, Hanayu is crying.

I turned the couple into Kasuya and Mina. Their relationship lies under totally different circumstances, and for them this would certainly not be a sad moment. Elements I kept in my version are Hanayu’s sweater (because I liked it) and the cake. I reckoned the cake would be fitting in the context since Mina is an excellent cook and loves to bake cakes. I can imagine this is as a private birthday celebration for Kasuya where his lovely girlfriend baked him a cake 😀

A point of difference is that, because Hayato is a lot more taller than Hanayu, she raises her head more in the original picture. Because Kasuya is not that much taller than Mina, that didn’t seem necessary for them.
