Hello world!

Standard

Hey-hey-hoo!

Welcome to my blog! Thank you for checking this out!

I’ve had this blog for a long time, so long that now I’m wondering why I didn’t come up with a better name xD I named it after my old nickname, which is Mei. So feel free to call me that!

It started as a platform to just randomly upload Japanese song lyrics that I translated into English because I had no other real purpose for them. I started translating lyrics because I got tired of always searching for lyrics translations online and never really finding everything I was looking for so I decided to start making my own! I know there are always people out there looking for lyric translations, and I hope I can contribute in my own small and humble way 🙂 After that, I started thinking about doing more and sharing more of myself, so I also started adding drawings and info about my own stories and characters. Recently I’ve started adding reviews of Asian dramas (of which I watch A LOT). I felt that it was a waste that I watched so many and also forgot so many. I always have a lot of opinions about the things I watch and I could never truly share it with anyone so that’s why I decided to upload those here as well 🙂 Read at own caution 😉

So anyhow, recently I’ve started to become more active, mostly in posting Japanese song lyrics translations and writing drama reviews. When I find time again to work on my own story I will try and upload more about that here as well.

I hope this can be a fun blog for people to check out!
For now, here are my categories:

Nice Music
Seiyuu (Voice Actors)
Jinsei no Minna
Drawings
Drama Reviews

Feel free to comment and let me know if you like my blog! 🙂

  1. Dear Mei,

I came across your blog and one of your reviews several years ago when I searched for information on a K-drama that I was watching at the time. I am incredibly impressed by your reviews — your enthusiasm and insight are wonderful. Your perspective on plots, characters, and actors sharpens my own understanding and observations of the dramas. I used to live in Korea and Japan while serving as a U.S. Air Force pilot, and I immensely enjoyed those 6 years. I miss both countries; watching K and J-dramas brings back fond memories and they keep me informed of current Korean and Japanese culture. I look forward to your monthly reviews……please stick with them as long as you can!

    • Dear Brian,

Thank you so much for your kind message and for sharing your personal experience. It’s so interesting that your fondness for J- and K-Dramas is linked to your past of working and living in those countries. I also like discovering new fields and keeping up with current (societal) issues through dramas, so I can really relate to that.
It means a lot that you find my reviews insightful, so thank you for sharing that and I really appreciate the encouragements! 🙏🏻😊

    Dear Mei,

I am so impressed with your thorough and thoughtful reviews! You analysis is so I so insightful! Can you please add the K-Dramas “When the Weather is Fine” (2020) and “Marry My Husband” (2024) to your list of dramas that you will hopefully review one day? I couldn’t find them on your list, but the first one is a wonderful drama with Park Min-young and Seo Kang-joon. The second one has Park Min-young and Na In-woo. I look forward to reading your thoughts!

    • Hi Michelle, thank you so much for your comment! I’m glad to read that you find my reviews thoughtful 😊 Also thanks for your recommendations! The two dramas you mention are on my to-watch list so I’m definitely going to be reviewing those when I get to them 😉

  3. Hi Mei,

Thanks for your thorough and thoughtful reviews. I stumbled onto your blog when I was Googling again re the Korean movie “If I were a season” to see if there are any new reviews explaining the ending of the movie. Your review is one of the best I have seen about this movie with an open ending – I have read some many viewers’ different take on the ending and what happens in the future to Hyerim and Geosik.

I stumbled onto Korean and Japanese movies just prior to the pandemic and i think your reviews is a good source for someone like me who have become addicted to these movies. Keep on reviewing and wish you good health.

    • Hi Bill,

Apologies for the late reply, sometimes the comment notifications slip through and I only discover them after some time 🥲 Thank you so much for your kind and supportive message! I really appreciate it and I’m really glad that my reviews are helpful and entertaining to read for fellow lovers of Asian dramas. 🙏🏻Wishing you good health as well!
